Still the right person for the job

Blair McPherson outlines the virtues of staying put, of resilience, and of not playing the blame game.

We always hear the stories of the new guy who came in and turned it around. We don't tend to hear about the succession of high fliers who came and went quickly each having turned the place upside down. We never here about the ones who hung in and gradually pulled things round. Dramatic and fast improvements make for a good story. But if things can be turned around quickly then there probably wasn't that much wrong.

As for those high flyers who come and go in 18 months - well their period in charge has more to do with enhancing their career than building for the future. This is a story about staying put, of resilience, of not playing the blame game, of self-awareness, of being honest and of political integrity.
